Today we proudly watched our son sing his heart out at his school's Christmas concert. Beyond adorable. He sang "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas", "Dradle Song", and a welcome song to all the children of the world saying Hello in several languages.

The time has come for our little girl to move into a big girl bed. For the past couple of weeks she has been climbing out of her crib quickly and easily. Since she is only 22 months, I wasn't keen on her in a bed and thought a crib the best and safest place for her so I bought a Crib Tent which basically encloses her in the crib. That didn't work out too well as it made her miserable. So we decided, it was time to try a big girl bed. Well, it was exactly what she wanted. Smart little girl. She knew it was time for a bed before I did!

Our daughter had a great follow up this morning at Sick Kids. The surgeon is super pleased with the progress on her hand. We don't have to come back for another 3 months. I really wanted a photo of our daughter with her surgeon but she wouldn't do it. Sigh. Next time.

Our very good friend T.S. launched her new Yoga DVD at her studio today and we were invited. Our son has a special bond with T.S ever since he was a baby. We took the bandage off on Saturday and our daughter has been pretty protective of her hand ever since. The wound is healing nicely. We will go back to see her surgeon on the 1st. There is no official rehab. Just using the hand is rehab enough. It's still pretty swollen but at least now our daughter can look at her stitches without getting sad or crying. Progress. Thanks AC for taking these photos!

Our little one pulled off her bandage early this morning, so we had to go to our local Children's Hospital to have it re-bandaged. They were terrific with her and now she is sporting a much smaller and manageable bandage. One more week to go until it officially can come off. I had my first official look at her hand and it looks amazing. Our daughter was fairly distraught when she saw the stitches but once it was covered up again, she was fine.

I've been waiting for our daughter's feet to be big enough to fit into a pair of UGG's. Well today was the day. I didn't realize they came in pink and as soon as I saw the pink bows on the back I was sold. They are adorable and they keep her feet toasty warm. She is now officially wearing a size 6 shoe. Although she is still only 19 pounds, her feet have grown 3 sizes since the spring.

Even though it was raining lightly, I thought it would be good for all of us to get out for some fresh air and thought we could go apple picking. Well, it didn't go entirely as planned. Our daughter fell asleep in the car en route so daddy stayed in the car with her while my son and I checked out the farm animals. Our son refused to zip up his jacket so he was cold and wanted to leave. We ended up buying fresh picked apples at their market. Not exactly how I envisioned it, but hey, we got a little fresh air!

There is so much to be thankful for. We are truly blessed to have a happy and healthy family. We had a wonderful time at my brother and SIL's today. The day was capped by a great bonfire down at their lake.

We spent the afternoon swimming at our friends L&E's. They hadn't seen our daughter since we first came back from China in December so it was a great catch up. Since both kids had tubes put in their ears in April, both are wearing earplugs (hence the headbands to keep the earplugs from popping out). Our son just started wearing earplugs last week after he had a nasty ear infection. Our kids LOVE the water!

An Awesome Day at the Amusement Park

My son and I spent the entire day at Wonderland with one of our best friends R. We had a blast. We went on every ride allowable for our son's height. The temperature was perfect and the crowds were totally manageable. As you can see from the photos, it was a jammed packed day. We were there almost 10 hours! Crazy.

It was a zillion degrees out and super humid and our son wouldn't stop playing. His face was bright red and he was sweating but it didn't slow him down. I made sure he was keeping hydrated. His sister followed and played with him wherever he went. Adorable.

We had a wonderful family reunion today. My aunt, uncle and cousin were in town from California for a birthday celebration. For most of the group, it was the first time they met our daughter. It was a great afternoon/evening. I wish we could have stayed until the bitter end but it was already way past kids bedtimes when we left. Let's do it again next year!

Our place up north just had the playground replaced. It officially opened on Thursday and it's fantastic. It's for ages 18 months to 12 years and there are lots of things for the kids to do and grow into. We've gone everyday -- it's only a three minute walk from our place. Nice!

This morning we went for brunch at the nearby resort. Our son once again enjoyed the mountain ridge runner downhill coaster. This time I even gave it a go with my son (he really wanted me to try it with him). I'm a roller coaster fan and this ride was very cool. Although I have to admit I did apply the brakes a few times on the corners. It really is quite the ride. Next time, no brakes. The ride is obviously not for little ones, but our son wanted a photo pretending to go down the hill with his sister. Our daughter wasn't quite sure what was going on but our son had a blast!

We've managed to take a few days off work to hang out at our place up North. Uncle R. was able to join us for one night and the kids had a blast. They went to the playground, swimming and even had time for a major squirt gun battle (that Uncle R. supplied).

We went to our Adoption Agency's Annual Gathering this afternoon. It was the agency we used for our daughter's recent adoption but we didn't see anyone from our adoption group. Although it was a HUGE event with lots of people so we could have missed them. Regardless, it was nice to see all the wonderful kids. To be honest, I went mainly to meet the Director. I spent a great deal of time on the phone and email with this man and finally was able to put a face to a name and voice. I look forward to going again!

There was a ribbon cutting ceremony at our golf club for the opening of our updated junior course today. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time of this course with the little ones! The big hit for our son was the dessert table and the chocolate fountain. He wasn't so much interested in the actual chocolate (not into sweets) but rather dipping everything into the fountain. And yes, his nice white shirt ended up with chocolate on it.

Our little girl is growing slowly and steadily and all in proportion. The Doctor said, “Good Increase”, “Looks wonderful”. Bottom line, he was really happy with her progress and has no concerns on her small size or weight anymore. Even though she remains just below the 3rd percentile in height and weight, we no longer have to see him. I'm a bit sad though. He's such an awesome Pediatrician but he only works with children with serious issues. Here's some of her progress since we adopted her:

After our bike ride, we cleaned up and went to the club for dinner tonight. We had a great time. Our little girl is 17 months old today. I can't believe she's been with us for 6 months already. Where is the time going?

Daddy and son enjoy trail riding together and get out as often as they can. Our son is hooked up on a trail-a-bike behind his dad's bike and pedals (and contributes). Check out what they can do! They go over logs too! While the boys went cycling, I took our daughter on her trike while I hiked. Next time we're going to try the Chariot and pull her behind my bike.

One of the parents from our son's Casa Class at Montessori hosted a post school picnic in their backyard for the kids. They had a great time running around. A big bonus was the yard was filled with baby toads so the kids spent the majority of their time searching and picking up toads. At the end of the picnic, some of the kids joined in on the group shot. As you can see if was fairly impossible to capture but it was fun attempting it.

Our daughter ADORES her big bro. He always makes her laugh. It's wonderful to watch them play together.

We started the day with a lovely brunch at a local cafe and ended the day riding bikes up to the park with dear hubby and then ice-cream from Dairy Queen. In between we visited my step-dad. The kids really brought a smile to my step dad's face as they rolled around on his bed. It was nice to see.

Our golf club has started a new program for kids 3-6 to learn golf. The lessons are short (25 minutes) and the kids seem really interested for the entire time. The pro made it very fun. Today they were taught "the language of golf". The pro was awesome and the kids really liked her.

Our little girl is happier and happier every day. Since the tubes were put in her ears, she is a new little girl. Being pain free and now understanding English, has made this little one a very happy gal indeed.

Today we went to the zoo with our travel mates. Little did we know that a heat advisory would be issued and the temperature sauna-like. The upside, practically no one was at the zoo! Regardless, we all had a wonderful time together.
